I’m Lauren Barker, lead instructor at Barker Pilates. As a Postpartum Corrective Exercise Specialist (among other certifications), I offer personalized private Pilates training primarily for postpartum and perimenopausal women who need:
- Instruction on how to correct common postpartum/perimenopausal imbalances that affect performance/daily life.
- More professional observation/feedback as they begin getting back into their fitness routine.
- Specialized Pilates programming addressing common postpartum/perimenopausal issues.
I am certified to help anyone with issues related to breathing, pelvic floor, diastasis rectus, SI joint or lower-back pain, core development, and more.
the Studio experience,
the privacy of Home
Classical pilates equipment supplemented with contemporary & therapeutic tools/methods.
I have found that women who are recently postpartum and who are perimenopausal are often experiencing those similar issues because of the shift in hormones and life transition.
Issues that plague women postpartum often resurface with a vengeance in perimenopause: Especially with posture and pelvic floor. Because of this, what often works for one group translates well to the other.
You can address those issues after having a baby or once menopause starts, but your body is going to demand you listen eventually!

Let's get things back
to YOUR normal.
“Lauren does an amazing job. I’ve done Pilates on my own at home frequently over the years, but the workout with her was just way way better. I love that she talks about functional fitness.
The exercises she used built on the Physical Therapy I did after having a baby. Lauren can help with building a foundation but she’s also an athlete and can guide you through advanced workouts.”
– Lindsay H., Mom of 3
“Lauren was great at listening to my pain points and explaining thoroughly on why I was having my pelvic floor pain.
She walked me through the exercises thoroughly and just after 3 weeks of practice, I saw significant improvements.
She was always available for questions and check in’s. Definitely recommend.”
– Lindsey S., Early 20s Athlete Without Children
“Let’s face it, the pelvic floor can feel like a mysterious and intimate matter. What is this pelvic floor? How do I know if I’m feeling what I’m supposed to be feeling? What if I can’t feel anything? Will I be able to stop leaking? These are the kinds of questions you can ask Lauren.
Lauren not only knows how to guide you to learn how to feel your pelvic floor in action, she knows firsthand what it’s like to repair and regain pelvic floor function after her own traumatic birthing experience. Lauren takes it all in stride (poop, pee, sex, incontinence, constipation, all in one session? You betcha).
She answers all the questions and brings up seemingly taboo/embarrassing topics with humor, kindness, open mindedness and curiosity. She answers and shares what she knows and if she doesn’t know, she’ll tell you and point you to resources or someone who does know.
If you know you need help with your pelvic floor, or are just wondering on how do I “feel” or activate “down there” connect with Lauren. She can help you strengthen, release and/or build awareness around your pelvic floor so you can reacquaint to a part of yourself that plays an integral role to daily living.”

Ready for change?
If you experience overactive bladder or have a weak pelvic floor (think accidentally peeing when sneezing / coughing / running / jumping or doing nothing!), I also offer a 28-day exercise program, Pilates, specifically to target those issues.
If you want to see results QUICKLY and avoid the costs and physical / emotional trauma of surgery or internal pelvic floor therapy, it is the perfect place to start, and often all that is needed. You will be taken through research-tested movements that had better pelvic floor engagement than kegels and given small doses of homework.
Upon completion of the program, you will be presented with options for continued growth and have a solid grasp of what works best for YOUR body.
With Barker Pilates, you get the one-on-one, specialized care not possible with larger class sizes so you can more safely progress to your normal training schedule. My program is a great bridge between physical therapy and returning to your choice of fitness program. I offer all of the same quality pilates studio equipment you’ve grown to appreciate (and a lot more!) from the comfort of home.
With various programing options – both in-person and virtual – I can help 6 weeks after birth through menopause!
Let’s do this!
